ABOUT THIS JOB
We are looking for a professional to join our Microbiology team and work on the development of next-generation biological products aimed at combating the major diseases faced by global agriculture. The candidate will have access to Symbiomics’ culture collections and technological platform to support the development and validation of new products that promote crop health and help reduce the use of chemical controls in the field. The ideal candidate has experience with basic microbiology tools and will support practical activities involving Symbiomics’ microorganisms. Their role will be centered on:
- Performing activities involving the handling and maintenance of microbial cultures, such as reactivation, growth assessment, and stock maintenance.
- Preparing culture media, solutions, and reagents for microbiology experiments.
- Executing methodologies and protocols established by the company for the characterization of microbial strains regarding their biocontrol potential and plant growth promotion.
- Assisting in the planning and execution of microorganism inoculation assays in in vitro and in planta
- Participating in microbiological quality control tests of products under development, assessing purity, viability, and stability.
- Assisting teams in daily activities to ensure high standards of scientific quality and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), protocols, and safety principles.
- Ensuring proper laboratory conditions, including equipment, supplies, solutions, cleaning, and quality programs.
- Maintaining organized and detailed records of protocols, experiments and results.
- Contributing to the company’s success with new insights and ideas!
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Agronomy, Microbiology, or related fields, or professional experience in any of these areas. (Just show us that you know your stuff!)
- Experience in the preparation of culture media and solutions.
- Experience in microbiology processes, such as reactivation of isolates, growth/viability assessment, and maintenance of microbial cultures (bacteria or fungi).
- Knowledge of general procedures and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) involving Microbiology.
It’s a plus:
- Experience with microbiological quality control testing.
- Experience handling plant pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria and fungi).
- Experience in setting up, monitoring, and collecting data from microorganism inoculation experiments in plant pathosystems.
